Long Island Pride has officially unveiled its theme for the 35th Annual Celebration: “Defiant Joy.” More than just a slogan, “Defiant Joy” is a rallying cry—a bold declaration of love, resistance, and resilience in the face of increasing efforts to silence and erase the LGBTQ+ community.
“Thirty-five years ago, they told us we couldn’t march. But we refused,” said LGBT Network President & Founder Dr. David Kilmnick. “We fought back, we won, and we’ve never stopped. Today, we are facing new attacks on our community—so we are marching again, this time with even more power, more resilience, and more joy.”
From that first defiant parade to this year’s milestone celebration, Long Island Pride has always been about more than visibility—it’s about taking up space, being loud, and never backing down. “Defiant Joy” captures that spirit: showing up when we’re told to stay home, dancing when they want silence, and celebrating our existence even when the world tries to deny it.
The 2025 event will take place in Huntington Village on Sunday, June 8 from 12 PM to 5 PM, featuring a vibrant parade, four hours of live entertainment, local vendors, a family zone, beer and wine garden, and more.
This year’s message is clear: We will not be erased. We will not be silenced. And we will celebrate—defiantly and joyfully.
